Meet the Doctors

Dr. Daniel W. Alexander has been in active practice in southern Maryland for over 12 years. He is originally from Keyport, NJ. Dr. Alexander is a 1993 graduate of Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD. with a B.S. in biology. He then received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1997 from Life University in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Alexander did his Internship at Farkas Health Center in St. Petersburg, FL. After completion of his state board, he moved to southern MD.

Alexander Chiropractic Center has been open in southern MD since April 2000.

Dr. Alexander is an active member of the ACA (American Chiropractic Association), ICA (International Chiropractic Association), and MCA (Maryland Chiropractic Association). He is also an active member of the St. Mary’s Chamber of Commerce (2009 small business of the year), and Calvert Chamber of Commerce (2008 small business of the year) and a sponsor of numerous sports teams, schools, clubs, and scholastic scholarships.

Alexander Chiropractic Center has held its Kids Day event on the 3rd Saturday of May for the past 10 years. This event has been recognized by the St. Mary’s and Calvert County Commissioners, Senator Roy Dyson, and U.S. Representative Steny Hoyer.

Dr. Lawrence G. Smallwood was born and raised in Fairmont, WV. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1994, where he studied his pre-chiropractic requirements with a B.S. in exercise physiology. Dr. Smallwood attended Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, TX, and graduated in 1998 with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. After graduation, Dr. Smallwood moved to southern MD and worked for several large successful family and personal injury practices. In September of 2001, Dr. Smallwood became part of the Alexander Chiropractic Center team, as a supervising doctor at the California, MD location.

Since Dr. Smallwood has established a very successful Family practice, he continues to treat conditions such as injuries related to auto accidents, work injuries, neck and back pain, and adolescent scoliosis.

Dr. Laura M. Reid has been an active chiropractor for 14 years, benefitting multiple chiropractic clinics on the East Coast. She grew up in Southern Maryland and graduated from the University of the District of Columbia in 1997 with a B.S. in Biology. Dr. Reid then continued her education at Texas Chiropractic College in Houston, TX, and received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in April of 2005. While studying for her D.C., she interned at Moody Health Center in Pasadena, TX. After graduation, Dr. Reid moved back to Maryland and worked as a Chiropractic Assistant before becoming a licensed Chiropractor in 2009. In June of 2023, Dr. Reid joined Alexander Chiropractic Center as an Associate Chiropractor at the Solomons, MD location.
